Stage 8 of the Motorcycle TransAm took us from Augusta, KS to Dodge City, KS, home of the famous Dodge City 300 race! Today’s route stretched 225 miles across some of the flattest terrain we have seen yet, with elevation changes only between 1200 and 2500 feet. It might not have been the most dramatic climb, but the wide-open Kansas roads offered a chance for the riders to settle into a steady rhythm, some of them (cough, cough 4 cylinder riders) ran the route FAST!
The day did come with a curveball when a route detour popped up, but every single rider found their way to Dodge City. And the best part? The sweep truck had a completely quiet day, NO ONE needed a lift. Huge congratulations to the riders for that win!
One of the coolest stories of the day was seeing three generations riding together. Bill Page had his daughter Amy in his sidecar, and for a few hours this morning his son Billy joined along with Bill’s grandson. Four members of the Page family together on the TransAm route, what a special moment. This is what it’s all about, sharing the ride and the adventure with family and friends on these incredible antique motorcycles.
Arriving in Dodge City was a highlight in itself. Known as the “Cowboy Capital of the World,” Dodge City is rich with Old West history. From the famous Boot Hill Museum to tales of lawmen like Wyatt Earp, the town is full of stories of grit and determination, much like the spirit of our riders. It’s also the site of the legendary Dodge City 300, one of the most important early American motorcycle races, so rolling into this historic town on antique machines felt especially meaningful.
Tomorrow the scenery changes dramatically as we head to Trinidad, CO. The route climbs from 2200 feet to 6000 feet, so it’s going to be a whole new challenge. We can’t wait to roll into Trinidad. Ride on!

I’m going to this stop as well! I know they are riding from Burns OR so I was thinking arriving around 230ish to see all the riders come in. This is such a neat race! Can’t wait to see!!!
