Hello, my name is Norm Berg. I grew up on a farm near Park River, North Dakota, and currently live in Bennett, Colorado with my wife, Denise. After graduating from the University of North Dakota with a BSBA and MBA, I worked for 40-plus years in Financial Management – primarily with the Department of Defense and the Department of the Interior.
I’ve been riding motorcycles since the early 1970s and own several Harleys. About ten years ago, I developed an interest in antique motorcycles – I find their simplicity fascinating and their styling timeless. My first purchase was a 1945 Harley WL basket case, which I still have as a future project. I joined the AMCA, started attending antique motorcycle swap meets, collecting parts, and acquired several complete bikes from the mid-1920s to 1949. I have met so many great people – what an awesome community.
Having followed the Motorcycle Cannonball and Cross County Chase for several years, I often imagined how challenging and exciting it would be to participate in such an event. That is what brings me here. The TransAmerican Motorcycle Endurance Run will be my first cross-country journey on an antique motorcycle. I will be riding a 1925 Harley-Davidson JD – which is currently undergoing several safety and reliability enhancements.
